Health Literacy Class Kicks-Off This Summer!
The Literacy Center is proud to present the newest course to our curriculum - Health Literacy! A recent survey of our students showed that many could benefit from a course with the goal of increasing awareness of healthy options for better living. The course will run for six weeks in the summer and will continue to be offered throughout the program year. The Health Literacy mini-class is offered to enrolled students in addition to their regular classes. 	Welcome to the The Literacy Center, a private, non-profit organization founded in 1977. The Literacy Center provides a variety of services to enable people to achieve personal goals through literacy. Free, one-to-one or group instruction is available to out-of-school youth and adults, aged 16+ who would like to:
		Improve their reading and writing skills Study English as a Second Language (ESL) Earn the GED® (Certificate of General Educational Development)
			For over thirty years, The Literacy Center has worked to help the people of the Lehigh Valley improve their lives, the lives of their families, and their community by improving their literacy. We’ve already touched the lives of more than 14,000 of your neighbors.



		One of five adults in the U.S. read at or below a fifth grade level. This is far below the level needed to earn a living wage.			More than 11 million U.S. residents are not literate in the English language. More fast facts on literacy
