High School Equivalency Classes (GED®/HiSET®)
The Literacy Center offers classes to adult Pennsylvania residents who are seeking to earn their High School Equivalency Diploma. Classroom instruction will help prepare students for GED® or HiSET® testing. Classes run September through June and are offered in the mornings and in the evenings. (For more information, please read our Frequently Asked Questions page.)
Please note that at this time our classes are full. You are free to submit an application, but you will not be contacted until early summer. If you are accepted into the program, classes start in September.
Step 1: Submit your application.
The online application is available here. Once you’ve opened the page, click “Create a New Account,” and then fill out the necessary information. (If you need more instructions for creating an account, click here.) If you do not have access to a computer or need some help completing the application online, come to our office (1132 W. Hamilton St., Allentown PA) to complete your application.
Step 2: Wait for us to contact you.
Your application will be reviewed and then you will be contacted either through phone or email to schedule a 1 hour appointment to complete an evaluation. Please be patient; you may have to wait months for us to contact you. If your phone number changes, please let us know. In the mean time, you can visit our GED resources page to get a head start on your practice.
Step 3: Come in for an evaluation.
After you have completed the 1 hour evaluation, you will be notified if you are admitted to the program and what your class assignment is. Again, please be patient.
